MUMBAI INDIANS, THE UNCOMPARABLE!
Mumbai,Wankhede Stadium, 25th May 2011: Mumbai Indians figured a comprehensive four wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders here on Wednesday. By this win Mumbai will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second eliminator and Kolkata were swept out from the tournament. J Franklin’s 51 runs performance and a great spell from Munaf Patel together carved this triumph for MI.
MI started the chasing proceeding with Sachin Tendulkar and A Blizzard. This duo played an outstanding knock and often seems to be grabbing the show. Together they added 81 runs in the first wicket partnership. But couple of misfortunes led the Mumbai Indains in to trouble. A Blizzard made a wonderful half century (51) with the aid of seven fours and two sixes.
After the basement founded by the duo, Franklin fell to Brett Lee. But after him couple of ironies pushed down MI to pressure situations. A Rayudu dismissed for a wrong decision of the Umpire and Rohit Sharma fell to an unlucky run out. But the last game hero against KKR, J Franklin’s again done the trick to MI. His unbeaten 29 runs had helped the MI to clinch a fabulous victory. Harbajan Singh finished the game in style by hitting a six, to produce the winning runs.
After asked to bat first, Jacques Kallis and Gautam Gambhir are started the proceedings for KKR. Dhawl Kulkarni started the bowling for MI. MI is started terrifically by taking the wickets of the four front line bowlers when KKR at 30 runs on the board. MI bowlers were send back, J Kallis (7runs) S Gowswami (0), Guatham Gambhir (4runs) and Manoj Tiway (4runs) to the pavilion. MI bowlers fired to put the KKR batsman’s to despair. Munaf Patel, Lasit Malinga and Harbhajan Singh had struck early for MI. But the circumstances after 6 overs had changed to KKR for reach 147 marks. Ryan ten Doeschate saved his team from a big down by his terrific effort. KKR were reeling on 20/4 in the 6th over, but the mending was brilliantly led by Doeschate's phenomenal 70 off just 49 balls. He got some support in the other end from Yusaf Pathan (26 off 24)and Shakib Al Hassan (26).
